Camping is the answer

OUR ETHOS
Camping at Hennock Hideaways
A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Devon
Welcome to Hennock Hideaways, where countryside charm meets camping comfort… and the occasional goat wandering past to check if you brought snacks. Picture rolling green hills, lungs full of fresh air, and the sort of peace and quiet you only truly appreciate when you realise there is no traffic noise, just the rustle of hedgehogs and foxes going about their night time business.
Our Family and Our Home
We are a family who, ten years ago, looked out over the view and thought, “Why not?” So we threw open our gates and have been sharing it ever since. You get the breath taking sweep across the Teign Valley to Haldon Forest, and we get to watch you wrestle with tent poles.
We are not really a working farm these days – more of a “pointless smallholding” where three generations live together. Our dad has been here longer than most of the trees, and if you happen to corner him, you will get a proper Devon welcome and probably a history lesson. Approach with caution if you mention tractors.
Always Close By
We are never far away, usually juggling the joys (and occasional chaos) of rural life. This might mean anything from collecting eggs to persuading the goats that the grass really is greener in their own field.
Your Pitch, Your Way
Turn up, pick a scenic spot and make yourself at home. We provide the scenery and the space, you provide the entertainment (marital rows over tent pegs optional).
Facilities with a Rustic Touch
Washing up happens in the Tea Shed – because even doing the dishes feels like an event here. Our honesty shop is stocked with essentials, and it will happily take either cash or card.
Local Food and Wanderings
Fancy a pint or a pub meal? Mosey down to the Palk Arms. Or head off along one of the many local footpaths where you can “get lost” without actually ending up on the news. The kids can run wild in the big field, kick a ball, fly a kite or invent elaborate games that make no sense to anyone else.
Weekend Treats
From the end of May to the end of August, we serve hearty breakfasts and proper coffee at weekends. Because life is too short for instant and you will need the fuel if you are planning to tackle the wilds of Devon (or just your own children).
Evenings by the Fire
End the day by the campfire with a drink in hand. We have fire pits and logs ready, so you just have to light it, sit back and look like you know what you are doing.
